Grrrrrr...
Another Plus P follower.
Why do they get under my skin so much? I mean, as soon as they show up - I INSTANTLY want to choke them!
These guys are wrong, and no logic or avalanche of proof will get them to bend. They are like LIBRALS!

Worse - they're on our side of the barricades.

My biggest gripe is that they have closed minds. *Sigh* The ability of people to embrace dogmatism never ceases to amaze me.

There is a time and place for point shooting - right after you have a firm grasp of aimed fire. Can't do it the other way with any consistent degree of success.

The most droll thing...

...about that cult is the venomous tantrums they launch upon trainers they don't like (read: anyone who seems to have achieved a measure of success in the training field) for being rigid, dogmatic, and insistant on the sole truth of their position. After their fetid smear of the day is done, quelle surprise!, guess who then rigidly and dogmatically insists that their techniques are the sole truths of combat training... Apparently, "irony" is a closed book to them (as well as being a book that is on a shelf they can't reach and printed in a foreign language...)

"irony"

Besides, aren't irons somehow related to females?

God is an iron.

I find Plusp's info useful much of the time. However, just as with "Ain't nobody's business if I do" book (a good read), I have to recognize the author's biases.

Plusp's training is meant for the folks whose farthest ambition is to be able to clear leather and fire inthe general direction of the threat. These are people who train infrequently and ought to concentrate on the basics. Unfortunately, *effective* point shooting isn't a basic, it requires much training.

Darrell has a number of good points and some BS, just like most trainers. Some of his disciples are ditto-heads (BigG). Others seem to take his theories as yet another viewpoint (schlickenmeyer). Do we really have to take offense at their religious/tactical beliefs?

Oleg,

"Take offense" is such a harsh term.

I just enjoy getting my private yuks at folks who take themselves way too seriously or believe that they are sole possessors of Revealed Truth. The world of "Combat Handgunnery" is full enough with such people that I get plenty of yuks.

The Mozambique drill is foolishness??!!

All I can say, is I'm glad I wasted my time learning such foolishness.

As far as the "WTSHTF all your training goes out the window"... I'm glad that the various special forces in the military aren't buying into that crap.

Pinky is an idiot (anyone remember the EZ-Off Oven Cleaner thread?), but he seems to be a charismatic idiot.

I'm torn between warning Big G not to drink any Grape Kool-Aid Pinky offers, and suggesting that Big G have a double glass of it.

Ian.

No kidding Tamara! All you have to do is read JackNKoch's statements in this thread:
http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=56010

George tried to offer a different formula for Power Factors and I offered some factual data and criticism of Marshall and Sanow.

JackNKoch turned the thread into a "PROVE IT" thread. *Yawn*

Interesting member

I enjoy reading "Battleaxe's" comments. Don't completely agree with her, but she makes good points.

I was just about to post on the latest on that thread.

It's winding down pretty much. Think I'll holler "Last Call," and close it tonight.
