The range of expressions that these lizards manage is quite amazing. Their hides are no less expressive. Perhaps these scaly beauties are the inspiration for the current tattoo craze.

My own pet dragon, Cyrano, is a conservative gentleman. He is constant in color and temper and is as much interactive fun as a pet rock.

Unlike a pet rock, he needs to be fed, cleaned and petted. That amount of effort makes me think that raising kids is more trouble that I would bargain for. Besdies, kids make too much noise; at least the reptiles are quiet.

This is a nervous snake - by the time the mirror of my camera came down after an exposure, it would jump back a foot or two.

Pretty dark eyes - one of a lizard, one of a turtle. Sometimes I wonder why I ever bother with showing people when such gorgeous and entirely agreeable subjects exist.
