Pietta 1858 target revolver imported by Traditions Firearms. If I am going to shoot a slow-loading weapon, I might as well hit my targets!

    My fixed sight version, so far never tweaked for zero, will reliably place six shots into 3 to 4 inches at 25 yards, but about 1.5″ to 2″ to the right. OK for social work, not so good on squirrels. Some people say their Remingtons do much better, claiming 2″ at 25, or even near one-holers. I’d have to see the gun camera film on that, but I believe it’s certainly doable.

    It’s not a slow loading weapon: You can pop in a spare loaded cylinder almost as quickly as you can do a reload with a more modern revolver.

    Just drop the loading lever, pull out the cylinder pin, roll the expended cylinder out, roll the loaded cylinder in, push the cylinder pin back in, and put the loading lever back up.

      Put it on half cock first. Otherwise, though you’d be able to compress the bolt spring, the hammer would get in the way.
