   I’d quibble with the ‘serious’ label.
   If the other party is so far away you can afford to use a scoped bolt action rifle, it’s not a ‘serious’ situation.

   Serious is an infantry squad 100m away.

   $6000+ price tag. What’s the difference in value to user between a Remington 700 and this one?

   Hostage rescue would be serious.

   I see them selling for $5K, and they have the same features as M24 sniper system (which is about as expensive) — extensive adjustability, detachable magazine.

   Any bolt gun has a limited and specialist role in an encounter where RoF is important. At ranges where urban sniping is likely (under 300m generally, under 150m usually) you have to wonder if these high prices and incremental accuracy gains are worth the money.

   I think that short range sniping benefits from a higher RoF. The views of the top scoring US sniper in the recent IZ are reflected by the rifle that he turned to, when he had the option of bolt or semi, was a semi.

   What is the cost of a Mk11 SOPMOD compatible AR, anway? I saw one new on Knight’s site for $10k.

     I would think that the cost of optics, match ammunition and training time would dwarf the price of the rifle.

     My own Styer favorite is the SSG69, which lists for around $2K. It is far less adjustable but I like how it handles.
