This 527 Varmint carbine has a heavier barrel and turns in 0.4MOA groups with handloads. Obviously, that is with a skilled shooter behind the gun. My friend’s father is such a shooter.

Lest anybody say the 7.62×39 round is “inherently inaccurate”. (Always hated that term, and “Inherently Accurate”, too…)
I’ve got a 527 Varmint identical to that one – I made up some quick handloads with four powders and four different bullets to fireform 100 rounds of new Lapua Match .223 brass. One initial group of FIVE el cheapo 50 gr Midway Dogtown bullets measured 0.625 inches at 100 yards. Many of the other loads were in the 0.7 to 0.9 inch range for five shot groups.
I can’t wait to see what this gun will do with some careful loads and high quality bullets. I have some of the new 53 gr V-Max bullets that will hopefully perform very well – they are the same ones that are factory loaded in the Super Peformance ammo….
It’s a neat gun.
BTW, I have a pretty blued James Calhoon single shot adapter that makes bench shooting a joy, and it gets rid of that clunky extended mag. … http://www.jamescalhoon.com/pricelist.php … scroll to the very bottom. It’s $46 and you wont regret the purchase – I HIGHLY recommend it for this rifle!
