How to shoot 7.62x54R and not feel much recoil

Just back from Knoxville where I got to hang out with Sayuncle, Dennis Badurina, Evie (in the video below) and several new friends.

Went to shoot with WPA. Based on the experience, I now want an ITT hydraulic stock buffer on every gun I have! As for the Veprs, I am torn between 7.62x54R to make use of the 5K+ rounds I have on hand and .308 for the access to a greater variety of modern loads.

Where’d you get the sandbag? Is the strap part of it, or separate?

Wow, that was some shooters grin!

How does get a Dragunov-inspired Vepr like that? I went through the Wolf Arms website, and all I found were wood-stocked sporter variants. Do they offer one closer to milspec, or was that a custom in the video?

    Do want.. even though ugly.

Is the trigger good? How much? 20N?

I’d go with .308 in the Vepr. You can handload it to take advantage of the Vepr’s accuracy potential, and save the cheap 54R for beltfeds. :)

I agree with Cliff Smith: that’s some shooter’s grin, and IMO a great endorsement for the product.

    Hey Oleg……Geht’s dir?

My ignorance abounds on both this platform and the 54R round…..am I correct in believing that you can shoot 308 rounds through it as well as the 54R? I’ll go to Wolf Arms and see what there is to see!

    Macht’s gut!

The hydraulic buffer really makes a difference. I have an Enidine buffer in my AR15 as well as having one on my Remington 870. Almost NO recoil with the 870 shooting 2 3/4 slugs. Something to be said for not getting beat up while shooting.

That buffer is nice. Do you know of a stock that makes use of it that I can use on one of my Mosin Nagants?
